Munroe Elementary School to Receive School Supplies and Visit From Denver Broncos Head Coach as Winner of "Staples Coach of the Week"
WESTBOROUGH, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Staples Inc., pioneer of the office supplies superstore industry, today announced that Munroe Elementary School in Denver, Colo., will receive a $5,000 Staples gift certificate for school supplies as the winner of the "Staples Coach of the Week" program. The school also will receive a visit from Mike Shanahan, head coach of the Denver Broncos, who was named the "Staples Coach of the Week" for the game against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday, November 22nd.
The "Staples Coach of the Week" program is run in partnership with the National Football League and CBS. Each week, one head coach whose team played an outstanding game, is honored by NFL representatives. An independent judging organization randomly selects an entry sent in on behalf of an accredited K-12 school in that NFL team's area. The winning school receives a $5,000 Staples gift certificate along with a visit from the chosen "Coach of the Week." A school winner is drawn weekly during the NFL season through December 21 and announced every Sunday during THE NFL TODAY pre-game show on CBS. Munroe Elementary School is the 12th of 17 winners in the sweepstakes this year.
According to Munroe Elementary School Assistant Principal, Nanci Campbell, "Munroe School is proud to be given the Staples Coach of the Week award. We're thankful for the support that businesses in our community give to education and children. We appreciate Chris Cdebaca, a parent of second grader, Victoria, who entered us in the contest. Because of his thoughtfulness, the $5,000 gift certificate to Staples will be used to help all the students at Munroe. The kids were thrilled to hear of the upcoming visit by Mike Shanahan and our school's appearance on the CBS pre-game show."
"Supporting education has always been a priority for Staples. We recognize that schools today are in need of basic supplies to keep their classrooms and administrative offices operating smoothly, and ultimately to successfully educate our students," said Thomas G.
