Staples Will Donate Up to $100,000 of the Sales of the Limited-Edition Staples Easy Button to Boys & Girls Clubs of America
FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Staples, Inc. (Nasdaq: SPLS) is adding “easy” to this year’s Holiday gift list by offering a limited-edition Staples® Easy ButtonTM. The base of this new and unique Staples Easy Button was designed by a 14-year-old, Janisha Thomas, from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City. Janisha’s artwork, called “Staples® Middle School,” features a school-themed design, with supplies and products, sports gear, and a computer station. Competing with hundreds of other Club members across the country, Janisha won a $1,500 gift card to Staples and the honor of having her design on the base of the first-of-its-kind limited-edition Staples Easy Button. The button will be available starting this holiday season at Staples stores nationwide and on Staples.com ($4.99).
“Janisha wowed us by the creativity and talent displayed in her design,” said Jevin Eagle, executive vice president of merchandising, Staples, Inc. “At Staples, we have a long-standing relationship with Boys & Girls Clubs of America and this limited-edition Staples Easy Button is a great ‘gift that gives back’ for anyone on your holiday list.”
Staples will donate up to $100,000 beyond its current $1 million contribution each year from its charitable arm, Staples Foundation for Learning, to Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) based on sales of this exclusive, limited-edition Staples Easy Button. Staples Foundation for Learning focuses its annual contribution on the organization’s Torch Club program, which provides character building and leadership skills programs for youth ages 11 to 13.
“We are very proud of Janisha,” said Roxanne Spillett, president of BGCA. “This project really exemplified her hard work, artistic abilities and creativity. We’re also very thankful to Staples for providing this opportunity to our kids and for their continued support of our organization.”
