FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Staples, Inc., (Nasdaq: SPLS) is now accepting entries for the Staples(R) Coach of the Week program which awards 17 accredited K-12 schools $5,000 worth of school supplies each and a visit from their local NFL head coach. Over the past seven NFL seasons, Staples has donated over $600,000 in school supplies to schools across the country through the Staples(R) Coach of the Week program effort.

"We encourage students, teachers and parents to enter their local school into the program," said Ron Sargent, Staples CEO. "This program is just part of Staples' overall efforts in supporting education. It's an easy way to help the school obtain much needed supplies to use in the classroom."

Staples(R) Coach of the Week is a program in partnership with Staples, the National Football League (NFL) and CBS Television Network. Each week of the NFL regular season, a panel of NFL representatives chooses one head coach who has shown outstanding team leadership as the Staples(R) Coach of the Week. One entry submitted on behalf of a school in the winning coach's region is drawn randomly and that lucky school wins $5,000 in school supplies from Staples plus a visit from the team's head coach.

"We had our teachers create a wish list and we were able to purchase much needed office equipment and upgrade our technology," said Andrew Hasz, principal of Faith Christian Academy in Arvada, Colorado, a winning school last year. "It was an exciting experience for us and the visit from the coach was one of the most memorable events of the school year."

THE NFL TODAY weekly pre-game show at noon (EST) on CBS, will announce the winning coach and school for the prior week. For more information, log on to www.staples.com/coach.
