"As we head into the busy holiday shopping season, we wanted to be sure that our customers could purchase their holiday gifts via the retail store, Staples catalogue or Staples.com to enjoy the easiest, most trackable rebate experience around."

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Staples, Inc. (Nasdaq: SPLS) today announced the launch of Staples Easy Rebates(SM), a revolutionary paperless online rebate process that makes retail shopping easier with simple and trackable rebates. Just in time for the holiday season, Staples retail, catalog and on-line customers are now able to submit rebate information directly online for hundreds of items, eliminating the need for the lengthy product rebate process that most consumers dread. With the introduction of paperless rebates, Staples continues to deliver on the promise of making the purchase of office products easy for customers.

With Easy Rebates(SM), Staples leads the charge as the retailer offering the largest quantity of paperless rebates - including high value rebates in the technology and office supply categories. Easy Rebates was developed in response to customer feedback on the frustrations of the mail-in rebate process, which typically includes filling out forms, cutting out UPCs from boxes, mailing in and tracking rebates. Easy Rebates offers a "no hassles, no clipping, no mailing" guarantee that will modernize the traditional rebate process. This functionality is available for the vast majority of Staples products that come with a rebate offer, including Hewlett Packard, Panasonic and Konica Minolta products.

Survey respondents who participated in a Staples Easy Rebates pilot were extremely positive, affirming Staples' expectation of increased customer loyalty as a result of the new offering.

"Staples is proud to take this unprecedented step in bringing to life our promise to make shopping for office products easy," explained Jim Sherlock, director of sales and merchandise at Staples. "As we head into the busy holiday shopping season, we wanted to be sure that our customers could purchase their holiday gifts via the retail store, Staples catalogue or Staples.com to enjoy the easiest, most trackable rebate experience around."

About Staples Easy Rebates

Staples created Easy Rebates with Parago, Inc., a marketing services transaction processing company based in Dallas, TX. The Easy Rebates program alerts the customer at checkout if there are rebate eligible products within an order and directs them to www.stapleseasyrebates.com. The online tool walks the customer through a simple submission process and then automatically sends email notifications indicating the rebate status, including when the rebate check is mailed. Estimated delivery time for rebate checks from Easy Rebates is four to six weeks.

Sherlock explained that very few products are not eligible for Easy Rebates, including rebates that feature premium offers and software products. Customers will also continue to have the option to mail-in rebate forms for any transaction if that is their preferred mode of rebate redemption. Even Easy Rebates that are mailed in for redemption will not require UPC labels. Staples.com kiosks at Staples stores can also be used to submit an Easy Rebate.
