"We're honored to be selected to the iSource 100"

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Staples (Nasdaq: SPLS) today announced that iSource Business Magazine has named Staples Contract Division to its annual list of top 100 supply and demand chain enabling organizations.

The iSource 100 recognizes providers of innovative enterprise-wide solutions and services that help companies drive efficiencies in their supply and demand chains. iSource Business Magazine is the go-to source for complete knowledge and information on end-to-end supply and demand chain solutions.

"We're honored to be selected to the iSource 100," said Jay Baitler, senior vice president of Staples Contract Division. "Staples Contract is committed to customers as a strategic supplier staffed with business process experts who help procurement professionals easily manage cost-effective office supply programs. Our people provide the knowledge and tools to help companies realize lowest total delivered cost--providing immediate savings and long-term improvements across the purchasing and sourcing functions."

Staples Contract Division collaborates with customers to identify the true costs of transactions and then drive those costs out of their procurement programs. Savings are derived from Staples' focus on the lowest total delivered cost of goods or services. The lowest total delivered cost represents the "soft dollar," or backend, savings generated by process improvements such as reducing small order activity, as well as the "hard dollar," or product, savings. Customers increasingly realize these savings through StaplesLink.com, the business-to-business procurement Web site that now drives 70 percent of Staples Contract orders.

The iSource 100 were selected by the magazine's editorial and advisory board staff based in part on interviews with customers, confirming that the honoree had delivered supply chain efficiencies. The iSource 100 will be featured in the June/July issue of iSource Business Magazine and on iSourceonline.com.
